Chapter 17

Angel was having a hard time finding reliable people to help her out at the boutique. After the grand opening, she tried to give Janice a chance hoping she would save up some money and get her own house. Janice was the worse idea she ever had. The girl showed up late and left early every day. After firing Janice, she went through several friends and family members that didn’t quite fit in either. Lately, she hadn’t been able to open at all unless she was able to open and close herself. If she couldn’t find someone soon Angel knew she would have to quit hosting until she did.

Dre was busy working on big concert so they weren’t hosting at the moment. Instead of flying solo, she focused on the boutique. Things were slow so she decided to call and check on Nicole while the shop was empty.

“Hey girl, what you up to?” Nicole said.

“Nothing, at the shop trying to sell some clothes,” Angel replied.

“Well, I might as well come and get me some sexy spring wear since I ain’t gonna be pregnant,” Nicole decided.

“It will happen in due time cousin. Just keep faith in you heart.”

“I’m not even thinking about no baby right now, I need a break. I’m about to start my birth control back up,” Nicole informed.

“Well, I can understand that. How does Tony feel about it?”

“Tony been getting on my fucking nerves every day since I mentioned it to him; walking around the house with a fucking attitude all day every day, snapping at me over every little thing.”

“Really? That don’t sound like Tony.”

“I said the same thing to him, but he act like he don’t care. Last night he didn’t even sleep in the bed with me. He slept on the couch.”

“Damn, y’all taking it to that level?” Angel asked in shock.

Tony and Angel were the couple everyone wanted to emulate. Even Angel had sat and thought many a days how she wanted something as real as what they had.

“That’s his stupid ass,” Nicole replied.

“Y’all better get it together,” Angel encouraged

“Anyways,” Nicole sighed. “What’s up with you and Dre?”

“We chilling I guess,” Angel said in a nonchalant manner.

“Chilling huh? Yeah ok,” Nicole said seeing through her facade.

“What? Why you say it like that?” Angel giggled.

“Girl ain’t nobody been able to take your mind off Biggs in twenty years, he must be doing something right,’ Nicole said exaggerating.

“I didn’t say he wasn’t,” Angel blushed.

She was really feeling Dre, but she was guarded because their relationship had gotten so ugly in the past. “He does treat me way better than Biggs did as far as spending time but…I just don’t know if I could trust his ass in a relationship,” she confided.

“When I first met Dre, I could tell he was kinda out there, but I see him maturing now,” Nicole said.

“I feel like he matured too, but I’m just gonna let it play out and see what happens. Meantime, Biggs sending flowers all up to my boutique and shit tryna be romantic.
